MARLA'S STORY

Marla Aaron Wapner has been performing since she came tap-dancing out of her mother’s womb— an entrance her family still hasn’t fully recovered from.

By age 3, she was boldly sashaying through restaurants, serenading elderly patrons with a moving rendition of “Sunrise, Sunset.” Seniors were literally weeping into their mashed potatoes. Her little performance left patrons speechless, and her family banned from The Sizzler.

Over the years, Marla's comedic acting continued stealing scenes in every summer camp production and school musical. Crowned “Thespian’s Best Thespian” by her alma mater, she remains convinced classmates still reminisce about her “star turn” as Adelaide in GUYS & DOLLS- though they more likely recall her unintentionally hilarious portrayer of Sophie, in SOPHIE’s CHOICE.  (Yes, THAT Sophie. Bad choice.)

Later on, Marla was still making audiences cry, but now with laughter. As a successful stand-up comic, she built a following in clubs and colleges, while opening for comedy legends Bill Maher, Roseanne Barr, Rosie O’Donnell, and many others. She even performed for live audiences as large as 10,000 people.

(Which is 9,983 more than attended her high school shows.)

As her comedy career was taking off, Marla joined SAG (Screen Actor’s Guild) and parlayed her comedic success into a steady stream of television and radio commercials, industrials, & infomercials as well as local cable and comedy TV shows.  In 2014, she made her HBO debut, co-starring as Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s seamstress on the Emmy winning comedy VEEP. At the same time, she was featured for 5 seasons as a White House Press  Reporter on NETFLIX breakout series HOUSE OF CARDS, and currently appears on all seasons of the hit series HUSH.

Her versatility has also been noted as host & emcee for corporate events, charity galas, and industry awards shows- including the TIVA (Television,Internet, Video) Peer Awards and the televised Capital EMMYS. Marla swears she did not slip a gold EMMY statue into her purse that evening….

Marla is an all honors, cum laude grad of the University of Maryland with a BA in Radio Television & Film. Previously ranked in the top 3Ks, by IMDb’s International STARmeter, and named a Who’s Who in America, 2025 edition, her proudest accomplishment is being Mom to her son Paul, a soon to be medical Doctor! Something she plans to leverage for free Botox in the near future.
